Contractions

Well this past Monday was very scary. I had a few contractions over the weekend but just thought they were Braxton Hicks so wasn't too concerned. I went to work on Monday still having a few BH and started documenting them since they seemed to be getting more frequent. Well by 11:00 a.m. they were exactly 5 minutes apart so I tried calling both my doctors and no one was available. I made the decision to just go into the hospital which was a good idea. They hooked me up to fetal heart monitors and contraction monitors, took some tests and decided that I was indeed in preterm labor. They gave me 3 shots every hour to stop the contractions and also had ultrasound to check on babies and my cervix. Both babies are now transverse which is very uncomfortable for me. After waiting another hour to make sure they had stopped the contractions I was released to go home but on bed rest for 2 days. I had some more while on bedrest but nothing like they were on Monday. Praying they stop for good and these girls continue cooking until March!

The Girl's Nursery

The cribs were delivered this weekend so we did some moving around of furniture (full bed into smaller guest room and twin bed into office) We will be using the largest of the rooms for the girls since they will needs lots of room!

 Daddy putting the cribs together.

Here are the crib bedding that I will order. I will use same fabric patterns and colors but mix up for each baby so they kind of have their own look.

Still need to refinish their dresser/changing table!

25 Weeks

We saw the specialist again yesterday to check up on the twins and see how much lil bit has grown. She is growing at a normal rate for her gestational age but she is still 4 weeks behind her sister! They are both doing really well and despite her two vessel cord she has good blood flow. The cyst on her placenta has not grown which is good. They are both head down now which explains all the high kicks! We go back in 3 weeks for another ultrasound and are praying they continue to grow and develop! We are still trying to decide on names for these two girls but it's proving to be much more difficult than I thought!

Amniocentesis

We had quite the scare after seeing the specialist November 10th. We were advised to see her since one of the twins was so much smaller. They did an ultrasound and got lots of measurements of her and found that she has a 2 vessel cord and small cyst on her placenta. With these findings she strongly suggested we have an amnio done to rule out any chromosome disorders. It was a very hard decision for us to make since the procedure has a risk of miscarriage, but in the end we decided that it was best for both the babies if we allowed the doctors to gain as much knowledge as they could. The procedure was very painful and scary but I made it through. The worst part was waiting the 10 days for the test results to come back. Our prayers were answered and the tests came back normal for both babies. I had my 24 week check up with my OBGYN last week and everything looks good but still going to see the specialist again this week to check on their growth. Thank you to all who kept our baby girls in your prayers!
